Leading NE-02 Candidate John Cavanaugh Praises Supreme Court Decision Striking Down Trump’s Tariffs

Cavanaugh will continue his fight against the misguided Trump economic policies that are hurting working Nebraskans.

Omaha, NE – The Supreme Court ruled that President Trump's tariffs policies are unconstitutional. Reports show that Trump’s tariff policies have already cost American households thousands of dollars on average.

John Cavanaugh said: “I’m glad to see the Supreme Court rise above partisan politics and finally put a check on Trump’s attempts to supersede the Constitution. While this ruling puts an end to many of Trump’s tariffs, some are able to remain in place. I’m running for Congress to stand up to Trump and lower costs for Nebraska families, and next year in Congress I’ll fight against the misguided Trump economic policies that put billionaires ahead of working Nebraskans.

I also am hopeful that this Supreme Court will stand up to Trump’s other blatant attempts to take power that the Constitution does not grant the President. We can not allow Trump and MAGA Republicans to take away states’ authority to run elections or disqualify millions of Americans from voting simply because they don’t have a passport. The Supreme Court must act as a check on the President and help ensure we have fair elections this November.”

Democrat John Cavanaugh is a current State Senator and candidate for Congress in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District. Polling shows John has a 28 point lead in the Democratic primary which will be held on May 12.
