John Cavanaugh Statement on Trump’s State of the Union Address

Omaha, NE – Following President Trump’s State of the Union address, Democrat and leading NE-02 candidate John Cavanaugh said:

“This was another speech where Trump lied about our economy and tried to distract from his chaos and corruption. 

In Trump’s first year in office he has invaded foreign countries, put his name on everything in sight, and raked in billions for himself and his family. 

Meanwhile because of his greed more than 100,000 Nebraskans have seen their healthcare premiums increase this year. American families paid an extra $1,700 on average last year because of his tariffs. And the price of housing and groceries continues to rise.

Trump’s priority has been himself and his billionaire friends and the result is higher prices for the rest of us. I’m running because we need to flip Congress next year and elect Democrats who will stand up to Trump, defend our values, and lower costs.”

Democrat John Cavanaugh is a current State Senator and candidate for Congress in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District. Polling shows John has a 28 point lead in the Democratic primary which will be held on May 12.
