Congressional Candidate John Cavanaugh Calls Out Trump For Shutting Down the Government

Omaha, NE — John Cavanaugh called out Republicans in Congress who are putting their own greed and political interest ahead of the American people and shutting down the government, saying:

"Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans control every branch of our government. They are choosing to shut down the government and threaten our entire economy so that they can take health care coverage away from millions of Americans already struggling to make ends meet."

If Congressional Republicans don’t take action and let the ACA credits expire at the end of the year, most ACA Marketplace enrollees will experience steep increases in premium payments in 2026.  

Democrat John Cavanaugh is a current State Senator and candidate for Congress in Nebraska’s second Congressional District. Polling shows John has a 21 point lead in the Democratic primary. John is running to lower costs, protect healthcare and Social Security from the Trump Administration’s attacks, and fight corruption.
