Republican Super PAC Meddles In NE-02 Democratic Primary, Signaling They Know John Cavanaugh Is The Strongest General Election Candidate
Omaha, NE – The American Action Network, a prominent Republican super PAC aligned with Speaker Mike Johnson, is running ads and sending mail meant to purposely mislead Democratic primary voters in an attempt to boost John Cavanaugh's primary opponents.
Watch the ad here.
This dark money Republican group clearly does not want John Cavanaugh as the nominee in NE-02. These misleading ads come after other dark money groups have recently gotten involved in the race.
Cavanaugh said: “Republicans are meddling in this primary to boost my Democratic primary opponents because they know our campaign can beat Trump acolyte Brinker Harding in November. Dark money super PACs are trying to buy this election for the Republicans and I am disappointed to see any misleading ad that repurposes GOP talking points.
Voters want and deserve an election where we focus on the issues that matter to them. They’re tired of these deceptive tactics and billionaires who think they can buy elections. In Congress I’ll support a constitutional amendment to get this dark money out of politics. I’m running to lower costs, fix our healthcare system, and hold Trump and his cronies accountable for their corruption – that’s the leadership Nebraskans deserve.”
John Cavanaugh is a current State Senator and candidate for Congress in Nebraska’s second Congressional District. Cavanaugh has endorsements from the Nebraska AFL-CIO, more than ten labor unions, anti-corruption groups like End Citizens United, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, NRDC Action Fund, Sierra Club, and local leaders like State Senator Spivey and State Senator McKinney.
